Summary
Benjamin’s Club1 (BC) is the most exclusive project I have come across. The club size is limited to 250, and you need a member vouching for you to get in. Once inside, all you can see are whales and Cardano celebrities. Members can bid on high-quality art in weekly auctions. Most of you will not be able to enter the discord yet, however, there are many innovative aspects to BC. Moreover, BC will look to cater to the entire space soon, without compromising the integrity and exclusiveness of the current group (secret information — now not so secret anymore).
The Concept
It is extremely hard to get into the club because you need to be an influencer, a celebrity, or an ADA whale. Additionally, there is a highly important rule. No shilling! Additionally, you have to own a membership keystone. The keystone is an NFT that can only be bought inside the club. First, it looked like this:
As you can slightly see, embraced by the gem, there is a key. The best thing, anyhow, is that the NFT is evolving. It started to crumble roughly two weeks ago.
Slowly but surely the gem broke apart, and the key started to see the daylight. Lately, it is behaving strangely. The key demonstrated an awfully beautifully purple fart.
Now that I have explained what you need to do in order to be part of the club, we are going to look at the auctions.
High-Quality Art Auctions
They usually take 24 hours and the final bid is in the range of 3000 to 4000 ADA per piece. All NFTs are special 1/1s. The latest ones were created by Oscar Llorens,2 a Spanish illustrator who has been working for high-profile clients like The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, Coca Cola, Cirque de Soleil, and many more.
There is nothing special about auctions. What makes BC so innovative besides the keystone?
Fair point! There is an incentive for bidding. By taking part in the auction, the participants will get an airdrop sent to their wallet. This only applies if a certain price threshold is passed. Here is one of the rewards that were handed out during the last auctions:
The Team
At the lead, we have Benjamin and Cash, the founders of BC. When I asked Benjamin why he created BC, he replied to me:
“I believe in the mission of Cardano and I want to be part of the solution. My goal is to connect the brightest minds to the network, one step at a time.
Abandon the passion mindset ('what can the world offer me?') and instead adopt the craftsman mindset ('what can I offer the world?').”
From the chat I had with Benjamin, I could tell that he is very reserved and down to earth. I met Cash, the other founder, shortly before CardanoCity started minting. He is loaded with passion, engagement, and positivity. His biggest strength is networking and communication. Many underestimate how hard it is to find a great communicator who can stay calm while everyone else loses their cool, Cash is made out of such wood.
Besides great founders, BC has also an extremely talented artist. Zigor is not only the creator of the famous keystones. He already worked for Nickelodeon, Wired, and Prada. His original 3D Art style was desperately needed in the CNFT space. Make sure you check out his Lynkfire.3
And then there is Fencemaker, the developer of the project. Fence is a Plutus Pioneer and also part of the Equine team, an upcoming P2E CNFT. His contributions to the Cardano community have been invaluable.
Conclusion
When I found out about BC, I wasn’t surprised about its success. The whole team is crazy for art and driven to create something lasting in the NFT scene. Add some innovative features here and there, great art for the membership keystone, auctions, and the picture is nearly perfect. The only thing missing was the marketing. The secrecy about the club and the carefully picked and timed sneak peeks created the intended buzz. The project went viral, and rightfully so. I believe this to be just the beginning. I can’t wait for what’s to come for Benjamin’s Club. As always, I wish the best of luck to the team and for all of their future adventures.
